“Moreover, there will be serious mistakes. So, from now on, let’s learn together and we have created teams that can provide outreach to prosecutors,” he added.
Burhanuddin also ordered all prosecutors to start preparing to handle cases in accordance with the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code.
“A prosecutor must be ready to carry it out. He must be ready to uphold justice throughout Indonesia,” he explained.
Previously, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) regarding the implementation of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code in the context of equalizing perceptions.
Sigit said that through the memorandum of understanding, it is hoped that the two institutions will have the same perception so that the implementation of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code can provide a sense of justice for the community.
“Today we are carrying out MoU activities followed by the signing of the PKS (Cooperation Agreement) regarding synergy and understanding in terms of implementing the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code,” he said at a press conference.
Burhanuddin said the birth of the Criminal Code and KUHAP were important milestones in the development of law enforcement in Indonesia.
He said the spirit being promoted was a transition from the colonial legacy model to a paradigm that is more humane, just, respects human rights, and is responsive to technological developments.
“This is not just a matter of changing articles and editorials, but is a renewal of the spirit and paradigm of criminal law enforcement that is more modern,” he said.
