At the Big Idea Forum: Mothers of the Earth event which took place at the National Museum, Jakarta, to commemorate Mother’s Day, Veronia said that Indonesian women were not yet completely free.

Veronica then encouraged a change in mindset.Veronica said that Indonesian women must be like ‘salmon’.
“We really have to move, have a swift mindset. So women have to be like salmon, yes, salmon are crashing in the current. So we have to be like salmon. We have to move. You can’t go along anymore, become victims again, keep reporting.”
“If I say, women are always full of surprises and solutions. And whatever it is, I’m sure we have resilience, we have strength. If I have children, I know what I hope to do in the future so that my children can continue. In other words, we have a responsibility,” added Veronica.
Veronica further said that gender equality must start at home.Veronica said equality is not just a public space issue.
“I feel that if we want to change, it really depends on the women in the house. If we are just an example, a mother when she gives birth to a daughter and a son, what do we treat? Have we provided gender equality for our sons and daughters, in our own homes? Or maybe we differentiate between our sons and daughters too.”
“So if we want to give access to women, we will return it, whether we as women have done that ourselves. Give the same access to our daughters, so that they have the same position, maybe starting from the family again,” he added.
