who was involved in a single accident on the KM 420-200 Toll Road at the Krapyak interchange, West Semarang District, Semarang City, has been detained for examination.
Ribut explained that from the results of the initial check, the bus driver was a reserve driver.
“Currently the driver has been detained by officers to undergo further examination, while the exact cause of the accident is still being investigated by the police,” said Ribut in a written statement, Monday (22/12).

He ensured that all victims who died and were injured as a result of the accident at the Krapyak Interchange received proper treatment and service.
The accident occurred when the bus drove out of control and hit the guardrail at the Krapyak Interchange on the Semarang City Inner Toll Road.
The incident resulted in 16 passengers dying and 17 being treated for injuries.
All the victims who died are currently in the process of post-mortem and identification by the Central Java Regional Police DVI Biddokkes Team at the Kariadi Hospital morgue, Semarang City.
Meanwhile, 17 injured victims were treated at three different hospitals, namely Tugu Hospital, Colombia Hospital and Elisabeth Hospital Semarang.
“We are sorry to hear about the death of the victim in this accident, this incident is a matter of mutual concern,” he said.
Ribut explained that the accident was currently being handled by the Semarang Police Accident Unit assisted by the Central Java Police Traffic Directorate.
The Central Java Regional Police’s Biddokkes also moved by deploying a medical team, an evacuation team, and a Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team.
The DVI team also set up a service post for the families of deceased victims at Dr Kariadi Regional Hospital as a center for information and assistance during the identification process.
“Currently the DVI Team is carrying out a thorough identification process using post mortem and ante mortem methods carefully and professionally. This is to ensure accuracy of identity before the body is handed over to the family,” he said.
