Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq explained that the mining company operates in a high elevation area which is suspected of triggering severe sedimentation towards the Batang Kuranji River.
He mentioned the five mining companies whose operations had been stopped, namely PT Parambahan Jaya Abadi, PT Dian Darell Perdana, CV Lita Bakti Utama, CV Jumaidi and PT Solid Berkah Divine.

“This sealing is the first step to evaluate the total operations of the company which is strongly suspected of triggering flooding,” he said in a written statement, Sunday (21/12).
He said that from the results of inspections at the location there were a number of violations ranging from the absence of a drainage system in the company’s site area to clearing land without environmental approval documents.
Hanif reminded that his party would not hesitate to seal business actors who ignore ecological safety in pursuit of profit alone.
“In fact, mining activities were found less than 500 meters from residential areas without any impact management,” he explained.
He added that negligence in managing erosion and running water has also been scientifically proven to accelerate river shallowing, which is the main cause of water overflowing during high rainfall.
“There is no compromise for business actors who ignore the environmental impact and safety of citizens. Compliance is not only a legal obligation, but a moral responsibility that must be paid dearly if it is violated,” he said.
Hanif ensured that this evaluation process would be carried out transparently to ensure justice for the affected communities.
His party will continue to tighten supervision in the upstream area to ensure that every mining activity runs according to legal corridors.
He reminded business actors not to make the environment an object that can be sacrificed in the pursuit of profit.
Hanif emphasized that corporate accountability is now a top priority in the national environmental law enforcement agenda.
“This is a strong message: The environment is not to be sacrificed. We will pursue every violation to its roots to ensure that people’s rights to a healthy and safe environment are maintained,” he concluded.
