Donald Trump
acknowledged having very close friendly relations with the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
Trump’s confession was conveyed when he received the Indonesian Ambassador to the US, Indroyono Soesilo, at the Oval Office, White House, Washington DC on December 16.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) through an official release as quoted by Antara in its statement said that Trump emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
“He also said that he had very good friendly relations with President Prabowo Subianto,” said a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Washington.
During the meeting, President Trump expressed his admiration for Indonesia as a large country with a population of more than 285 million people.
Trump expressed his hope that the cooperative relations between Indonesia and the US can continue to be strengthened and improved in the future, especially as the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership.
Responding to this, Ambassador Indroyono conveyed warm greetings from President Prabowo to President Trump and hopes that cooperative relations between the two countries and governments will continue to develop positively.
RI and the US are now entering 76 years of diplomatic relations.This relationship is characterized by a number of collaborations in various fields including politics, economics, defense and inter-community relations.
In 2026, the US is scheduled to host the G20 Summit.RI is a member of the G20 group of countries with the largest economy in the world.
America will also commemorate the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4 2026. This celebration will be enlivened by the presence of 31 tall ships from various countries in New York Harbor, including the KRI Bima Suci from Indonesia.
Previously, Prabowo and Trump met at the Multilateral Meeting on the Middle East which was held at the Consultation Room of the United Nations Security Council (UN), New York, on September 23 2025.
The two leaders met again on October 13 2025 at the International Congress Center, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in the context of signing a peace agreement regarding Gaza.
