again rejected former president Jair’s legal efforts

, judge Alexandre de Moraes emphasized that the appeal did not meet the legal requirements.Such an appeal can only be filed if at least two judges reject a guilty verdict, while in Bolsonaro’s case only one of the five judges on the panel chose not to convict him.
Bolsonaro, 70, began serving a 27-year prison sentence last November after the Supreme Court said he had exhausted all appeals.However, his legal team still filed a new appeal regarding the main case just three days after Bolsonaro was jailed.

Previously, Bolsonaro’s legal efforts also failed after he accused of “ambiguity, omissions and contradictions” in the trial process.The court rejected the claim.
The far-right former president was found guilty of leading a scheme to thwart the inauguration of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva after Bolsonaro lost re-election.He served as president of Brazil in the 2019-2022 period.
Even though he has been sentenced, Bolsonaro still denies all accusations and claims he is a victim of political persecution.
Amid ongoing legal proceedings, Brazil’s conservative-controlled Congress this week passed a law that could potentially cut Bolsonaro’s sentence to just over two years.President Lula has said he will veto the measure, although Congress has the authority to override a presidential veto.

On the same Friday, the Supreme Court also granted Bolsonaro’s lawyer’s request to transfer him to a hospital in Brasilia to undergo surgery.Police said an official medical examination confirmed Bolsonaro had a hernia that required elective surgery.
The medical team recommended the operation be carried out as soon as possible because the health problem had an impact on Bolsonaro’s sleeping and eating patterns, and increased the risk of complications.Apart from the hernia, Bolsonaro is also reported to be experiencing recurrent hiccups.
Bolsonaro has a history of stomach problems since being stabbed during the 2018 presidential election campaign and has undergone a number of subsequent operations.
His legal representatives also submitted a request that Bolsonaro be allowed to serve his sentence under house arrest for health reasons.However, judge Moraes rejected the request.
Before being officially imprisoned, Bolsonaro was under house arrest.He was then detained after being caught damaging the electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle using a welding tool, in what the court said was an attempt to escape.Bolsonaro argued that his actions were triggered by paranoia due to the effects of drugs.
