Road access to Tukka District, Central Tapanuli Regency (Tapteng), North Sumatra (North Sumatra), is gradually running smoothly. The river flow which was previously blocked due to wood and landslide material has now been cleared so that it no longer overflows onto the road.
Tukka District is one of the areas worst affected by floods and landslides in Central Tapanuli.A number of villages in Tukka District were difficult to access because the roads turned into rivers.
This was because the flow of the Aek Godang River and Sigotom River was blocked by logs carried by floods and landslide material, so the water overflowed onto the road.

Adian Siregar, a resident of Tukka Village, said that heavy equipment has been cleaning the Sigotom and Aek Godang Rivers for several days.BPBD, BNPB, police, TNI and the community worked together to clean the road and make ditches.
“Now the river is starting to flow smoothly, the water is no longer overflowing onto the road, cars can now pass,” said Adian Siregar, Saturday (20/12).
Adian said that improving road access had also facilitated the distribution of aid to the area. However, Adian said that the need for clean water was still an obstacle for some residents.
“After the water receded, more and more aid came in. But clean water is still a bit difficult. There has been assistance from water towers in almost every hamlet, some are filled up to three times a day, but it is still not enough,” he said.
Meanwhile, Marlina, a resident of Gotom Hamlet, said heavy equipment was also deployed to clean residents’ houses and surroundings.
“The alley in our hamlet is being dredged, the soil is being moved to a lower place. But we hope that heavy equipment can be added so that the cleaning will be faster,” he explained.
