Vietnam has just confirmed that it won a gold medal in the SEA Games soccer sport, Thursday (19/12).Kim Sang Sik’s team made a comeback to win 3-2 in extra time over Thailand.
Vietnam U-23 trailed 0-2 to Thailand in the first half.However, Vietnam recovered by scoring two goals in the second half and a winning goal in extra time.

These results make Vietnam complete the success achieved at senior level and age groups throughout this year.
The success story began with winning the 2024 AFF Cup title. The Golden Star secured their third title after Vietnam with an aggregate of 5-3 in the two meetings in the top match.
The second title was secured when Vietnam appeared in the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup which was held in Indonesia.
Interestingly, Vietnam, which was also coached by Kim Sang Sik, defeated the Indonesian National Team in the top match.Nguyen Cong Phuong’s goal secured the title for Vietnam thanks to a 1-0 win over Garuda Muda.
This title treble is also proof of Kim Sang Sik’s cool hand.The coach from South Korea proved this by bringing Vietnam to achieve the highest achievements at the senior and U-23 levels.
