estimates the movement of people during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays (
Nataru
) will reach 119.5 million people.
According to Dudy, the surge in community mobility occurred not only for Christians, but also for adherents of other religions who took advantage of the holiday momentum to travel and rest.
“It is estimated that there will be movement of around 119.5 million people during the Christmas holidays this year,” said Dudy at the opening of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 Transport Post at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Thursday (18/12).

The Nataru Post will last for 19 days starting from 18 December 2025 to 5 January 2026 at the Head Office of the Ministry of Transportation.
He said that this post would become a cross-sector coordination center to ensure that all policies, operational steps and responses in the field were integrated and timely.
“All policy processes and operational controls during Christmas must be implemented to a high standard,” he said.
Dudy explained that there are several areas to watch out for as points of population density, including Central Java and Eastern regions such as North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and East Nusa Tenggara, and North Sumatra.
“So, although these points are not among the most congested, we always anticipate because there is quite a lot of movement there,” he explained.
In organizing Nataru transportation, Dudy said there were four things of concern.
First
, security and safety must be placed as the highest priority.
“All levels are required to anticipate and mitigate risks consistently to prevent accidents and fatalities,” he added.
Second
, synergy and collaboration between ministries/institutions, regional governments, BUMN, and all stakeholders must continue to be strengthened, so that every step and action in the field runs in harmony and supports each other.
Third
, paying attention to small things or details.Every operational aspect, no matter how small, must not be ignored and must be monitored carefully.
Fourth
, the government must always anticipate uncertainty and unexpected conditions, especially related to extreme weather and potential natural disasters by preparing scenarios and response steps that are fast and appropriate.
“By adhering to these four points, I hope that the implementation of Christmas and New Year transportation can run safely, smoothly and under control,” he concluded.
