This alleged abuse began with viral CCTV footage showing the Head of Batam Customs and Excise, Zaky Firmansyah, hitting his subordinates.
Head of the Batam Customs and Excise Compliance Guidance and Information Services Division, Evi Octavia, denied that any beatings occurred.

Evi explained that at that time Zaky was examining several cases that required rapid and marathon treatment.Zaky also gave directions to an investigator who did not comply so he reprimanded him, but there was no abuse as in the viral issue.

Evi said Zaky’s actions were a form of coaching employees so they work according to their superiors’ directions.
According to him, the alleged viral beating was already known to Zaky and the employee concerned.Both of them were aware of improving communication patterns for the future.
“Regarding this incident, both the head of the office and investigators are aware and in the future they will even make better improvements to the relationship between the head of the office and his subordinates, there is no abuse,” he concluded.
Allegations of beatings by the head of the Batam Customs office against employees emerged after a CCTV video recording went viral on social media.
The alleged beating incident occurred on Wednesday (27/11) in the meeting room on the 3rd floor of the Batam Customs office.In the widely circulated video, the Head of the Batam Customs and Excise Office, Zaky Firmansyah, who is wearing a white shirt, is seen arriving.
He then spoke to an employee who had investigator status.Zaky’s hand looked like it was hitting his subordinate’s head.Meanwhile, the employee did not appear to be putting up any resistance.
