.Prabowo wants to produce fuel oil (BBM) from palm oil.
“And later we hope that in the Papua region oil palm will also be planted so that we can also produce fuel from palm oil,” said Prabowo in a joint briefing with regional heads throughout Papua, State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/12).
Apart from oil palm, Prabowo also proposed planting sugar cane and cassava which can produce ethanol.

Prabowo plans that within 5 years of his leadership all regions can achieve food self-sufficiency and energy self-sufficiency.
He said that this discourse could also save Indonesia up to hundreds of trillions in the APBN.
“Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, how much do we import fuel from abroad? IDR 520 trillion, imagine if we could cut it in half, that would mean IDR 250 trillion, moreover we could cut IDR 500 trillion, IDR 500 trillion means that each district could have the possibility of having one trillion per district,” he said.
Apart from that, Prabowo also asked all regional heads in Papua to use special autonomy funds in accordance with the regulations.
He reminded them not to use the money to travel abroad.
He said they all work for the people, their performance is entirely accountable to the Papuan people.
“But I really ask the governor, regents to be responsible, regents and governors not to travel abroad too much using special autonomy funds,” he said.
Currently there are oil palm plantations owned by a number of companies in several regions of Papua.Such as in Jayapura Regency, Keerom Regency, and Merauke Regency.
