News of the death of a legendary filmmaker
Rob Reiner
and his wife, Michele Singer, were stabbed in their home on Sunday (14/12) afternoon in Los Angeles, causing a stir in Hollywood.
Not only because Rob’s death was a tragic incident, but also because the 78 year old man is a legendary filmmaker in Hollywood cinema.

Celebrities, political figures and public figures expressed their deep sense of loss for Rob Reiner as soon as this news emerged.
Colleagues who had been involved in Reiner’s projects including Christopher Guest, John Cusack, and Josh Gad expressed shock at the tragic nature of the pair’s passing.
“Christopher and I are devastated, saddened and shocked by the tragic and violent deaths of our beloved friends, Rob and Michelle Singer Reiner. Our main focus at this time is for their children and their immediate family,” said Jamie Lee Curtis as reported

“Stunned by the death of Rob Reiner, a great man,” wrote John Cusack, who starred in The Sure Thing, via social media X.
“Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle are two of the kindest and most caring souls you could imagine. He really cares about those who don’t have a voice,” wrote Josh Gad via social media Instagram.
Condolences were also expressed by political figures, including Barack Obama and Gavin Newson, who emphasized Reiner’s role outside Hollywood as an advocate and philanthropist.
“With his wife, he lived a life full of purpose. They will be remembered for the values they fought for and the millions of people they inspired,” said former president Barack Obama.
The family of the late Norman Lear, a mentor and important figure in Reiner’s early career, also expressed a deep sense of loss.
“The Lear family is devastated by the passing of Rob and Michele Reiner. Norman often referred to Rob as a son, and their close relationship was truly extraordinary,” said the Lear family.
“Norman will want to remind you that Rob and Michele spent every breath making this country a better place, and they made it happen through art, activism, philanthropy, and their love for family and friends.
“Lyn Lear remained very close to them and said, ‘The world tonight has certainly become darker, and we feel lost,” the Lear family said.

Rob Reiner started his career as an actor with small roles before becoming widely known as Mike Meathead Stivic in the sitcom All in the Family in the ’70s, a role that won him two Emmy Awards.
He then turned behind the scenes, working on the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap (1984) and the romantic comedy The Sure Thing (1985).
His peak work, A Few Good Men (1992), was nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and The American President (1995) is considered one of America’s best romantic films.
Regarding the death case, LAPD Chief of Detectives Alan Hamilton assured Brentwood residents that they were safe, even though the suspect in this murder case had not been arrested.
Police are still in the process of obtaining a search warrant to investigate this case more thoroughly.
Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer married in 1989 and have three children and two sons, Jake and Nick, and a daughter named Romy.
