Bener Meriah Regent Tagore Abubakar said that his party was still trying to open land access in the area using heavy equipment and sending logistics to the area using helicopters.

“The six sub-districts are still under lockdown. Aid can only come in by air. But we are still strong here,” said Tagore during a coordination meeting with the Deputy Governor of Aceh, Sunday (14/12).
Meanwhile, logistics stocks in the area are also running low.He said, as of Sunday (14/12) there was only 12.4 tons of rice left in the logistics warehouse which would be distributed to 232 villages in stages by land and air.
From data from the hydrometeorological disaster management post in Bener Meriah Regency, updated (14/12) at 19:00 WIB, 30 people died and 14 people were declared missing.
Then the infrastructure damaged was 154 bridges, 58 roads, 710 housing units, 14 educational facilities and 7 health facilities.In that area there was also a power outage and communication networks had not been restored.
Access to Bireuen Regency – Bener Meriah Open
The bridge in the Teupin Mane area which is the access link for Bireuen and Bener Meriah Regencies which was broken by the flood has now been reconnected to the bailey bridge and can now be passed by vehicles.
Aceh Regional Secretary, M Nasir, said that this emergency bridge was a quick solution after the floods and landslides that damaged infrastructure on the route.
“Thank God, the Teupin Mane Bailey Bridge has been completed and can be passed by vehicles from both directions. This construction is a quick response to overcome the disruption of this main route,” said Nasir.
The emergency bridge functions to optimize efforts to open and improve overall road access to inland areas, especially to Bener Meriah Regency and Central Aceh Regency.
“This is to ensure smooth logistics distribution and mobility of residents in the Gayo highlands area,” said Nasir.
