Portugal’s National Maritime Authority stated
fishing boat
carrying five Indonesian nationals sank on Sunday (14/12) morning in the Atlantic Ocean area near Portugal, which borders Spain.Two people have been found, while three others are still missing.
The ship was said to have sunk “in the rocky area of Insua Island” in northern Caminha.

reported that maritime police, a rescue ship crew, and two planes from Portugal and Spain were launched for the rescue mission.
The rescue team found the boat captain and an Indonesian fisherman.They were then transported conscious to the hospital unit.
“At the scene of the incident, the search continues for three Indonesian fishermen,” said Portugal’s National Maritime Authority.
Portugal’s previous Socialist government maintained one of the most open migration policies in Europe, with Asian immigrants filling jobs in fishing, agriculture and hospitality.
A shift in sentiment has occurred since then, marked by the rise of the extreme right-wing, anti-immigration Chega party, which replaced the Socialist Party as the main opposition to the center-right minority government in this year’s elections.
