The UN report says that by 2025, plans for nearly 47,390 housing units have been submitted, approved or tendered.

This figure is far behind with only around 26,170 housing units in 2024.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned this “unrelenting” expansion, saying it “continues to fuel tensions, deny Palestinians access to their land, and threaten the survival of a fully independent, democratic, sustainable and sovereign Palestinian state.”

Guterres noted an average of 12,815 housing units were added in the region each year between 2017 and 2022.
Excluding East Jerusalem, which was occupied and annexed by Israel in 1967, around 500,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, along with around three million Palestinian residents.
“These developments further strengthen Israel’s illegal occupation and violate international law and undermine the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination,” said Guterres.
Guterres also condemned the ongoing escalation of violence and tensions in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
He highlighted Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operations in the northern part of the West Bank that have killed a “large number” of people, displaced residents, and destroyed homes and other infrastructure.
Violence in the West Bank itself is said to have increased since October 2023.
According to calculations
AFP,
based on data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the IDF has killed at least 1,022 Palestinians in the West Bank, both militants and civilians, since the start of the conflict.
According to Israeli data, at least 44 Israelis were killed in the West Bank as a result of Palestinian attacks or Israeli military operations during the same period.
