Probolinggo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
Oemar Sjarif said there were still 30 heads of families (KK) isolated due to flash floods which damaged the bridge connecting two villages in Probolinggo Regency, East Java.
Rain with moderate to heavy intensity for quite a long time caused river water to overflow and enter residential areas accompanied by mud.
The flood damaged residents’ houses and several public facilities such as bridges which resulted in cutting off access for residents in several villages on Thursday (11/12) evening.

“Today we have built emergency bridges for residents who were isolated in several locations due to the bridge being damaged by the flood, but there are still around 30 families who are still isolated,” said Oemar when contacted by telephone in Probolinggo, East Java, Friday (12/12), quoted from

Oemar said that initially there were around 500 families who were isolated because six bridges were damaged due to flooding accompanied by mud, but several emergency bridges had been built on Friday morning, thus opening up access for residents in several locations.
Three villages were affected by flash floods, namely Andungbiru, Tlogoargo and Tiris Villages in Tiris District due to heavy rain that poured down the slopes of the Argopuro Mountains.
“Thank God, today the weather is clear, so that an emergency bridge to open access for isolated residents can be built with the mutual cooperation of many parties,” he said.
Oemar explained that the construction of an emergency bridge connecting Andungbiru Village and Tiris Village will still be carried out tomorrow Saturday (13/12), so it is hoped that all residents’ access can be reopened.
Not only were bridges affected, the Probolinggo BPBD also noted that four houses were affected by flash floods in Andungbiru Village and 13 houses in Tiris Village.
“The floodwaters have started to recede, but there is still mud material remaining in a number of residents’ houses. There were no casualties in the flood disaster,” he said.
Apart from flash floods, the heavy rain that fell on the Argopuro Mountains also caused landslides which affected two houses in Andungbiru Village, Tiris District.
“I urge the public to increase their preparedness in facing hydrometeorological disasters in line with the extreme weather reported by the BMKG,” he said.
