Minister of Trade Budi Santoso said this number was the result of data collection updates as of today, Friday (12/12).
He explained that the most market damage occurred in North Sumatra.

“North Sumatra 44 (markets damaged), West Sumatra three (markets), Aceh has just entered 65 (markets) affected,” he said when met at the Ministry of Trade Office, Central Jakarta, Friday (12/12).
According to him, data collection continues to be carried out because the situation in the field is still dynamic.
Budi said that his party had coordinated with the Ministry of Public Works (PU) for the process of repairing market facilities.
“We will communicate with PU, because the market is usually now at PU. Usually they ask for recommendations from us, which markets to renovate,” said Budi.
The Ministry of Trade itself is currently setting repair priorities based on the level of damage to each market.
“This is now being identified, for example, if you want to build it, you can prioritize the ones that are heavily damaged first. This is being identified because everything is not finished yet, it is still a process,” he explained.
Regarding potential losses for traders, Budi said that calculations were still being carried out with the regional government and related parties.He said the loss estimate could only be submitted after all data collection was complete.
Flash floods and landslides that hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra caused extensive damage to public infrastructure.
The government notes that the repair budget needs to reach around IDR 51 trillion, with the largest portion allocated for rehabilitation in Aceh and North Sumatra.
Apart from the public market, the flood caused more than 157 thousand houses to be affected, hundreds of roads were cut off, and thousands of residents were displaced.This damage to distribution access also triggers disruptions in food supply and economic activity in the disaster area.
