, reports said that an elderly person named Chaiphum Sae Eung was found dead in his home with dozens of bite and scratch marks.The 63-year-old man was found covered in blood, holding a metal bar used to fend off attacks by wild monkeys.

The macaque monkey allegedly repeatedly scratched the victim, before biting off part of his leg.Police major Jakkarin Laksana said a shoot-to-kill order had now been issued.
“We suspect that the victim had been dead for around two to three days, because his body was swollen and emitting a foul smell. We sent his body to Betong Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” said Laksana.
Local residents said the animal had terrorized local residents and bit Sae Eung 10 days before the final attack.
Residents also said the monkey was roaming aggressively in the area, while following a female monkey.
Last year, Lopburi City in Thailand rounded up and sterilized hundreds of wild monkeys, after the animals became too aggressive following the pandemic.
The lockdown has deprived the city of about 3,000 macaque monkeys of the food they usually get from tourists, and they have become uncontrollable, swarming buildings, stealing food and sometimes attacking people.
This “Monkey Town” attracts thousands of tourists every year and hosts the Lopburi Monkey Supper Festival every November.
Under Thailand’s wildlife conservation law, macaque monkeys are classified as a protected species.About 1,600 monkeys have reportedly been sterilized to reduce their numbers and aggressiveness.
