In the indictment published on the Sleman District Court’s SIPP page, the defendant is said to have participated in a large demonstration on August 29 2025.
Arie initially left for the UNY campus at around 10.00 WIB and went to the UII Cik Ditiro Campus around 13.00 WIB.
Arie is said to have arrived at the DIY Regional Police Headquarters at around 17.00 WIB.
The indictment states that Arie stopped for a moment to monitor the situation.Arie is said to have seen several other groups of demonstrators from the west destroying the fence on the east side of the police headquarters.
After parking his motorbike west of Pakuwon Mall, the indictment stated that Arie and one of his colleagues intended to carry out an act of graffiti or vandalism in front of the DIY Regional Police Headquarters using ‘Pylox’ brand spray paint which was purchased that afternoon.
The prosecutor’s indictment stated that Arie – who at that time was wearing a black buff mask – entered the DIY Police Headquarters area from the east side through a gate that had collapsed. He then saw a brown tent that said ‘POLICE’.
“What then made the defendant think that the tent could easily catch fire was using the gray ‘Pylox’ brand spray paint and the ‘Tokai’ brand red lighter that the defendant brought,” said the indictment seen at the Sleman District Court SIPP, Wednesday (10/12).
When Arie was near the tent, he immediately lit a match and at the same time sprayed spray paint towards the tent. His lighter was broken and he threw it towards the tent.
Next, the defendant borrowed matches from someone he did not know and continued the burning action.
“So as a result of the burning of the tent, the brown tent with the words ‘POLICE’ was burned and damaged,” wrote the indictment.
“Then the defendant saw that there was a crowd pushing a sedan and then directed the sedan towards the fire from the tent that the defendant was burning. The defendant set fire to the tent with the aim of making the demonstration more chaotic,” he continued.
After that, Arie threw spray paint and matches towards the burning tent. The defendant then walked away from the crowd to avoid tear gas and reached the stop in front of Pakuwon Mall.Arie is said to have taken part in the action at around 20.30 WIB then returned to the UNY campus.
The prosecutor alleged that as a result of Arie’s actions, the DIY Police tent burned until it was charred and could no longer be used.Arie was then charged with Article 187 1 or Article 406 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
The trial of this case will continue Monday (15/12) next week for the exception agenda.
Perdana Arie, who is a resident of North Klaten, Central Java, was arrested on September 24 2025 at a house in the Kalasan area, Sleman, DIY.Arie’s arrest by the authorities was then informed by the Jogja Calling Alliance on September 30.
The Alliance said that Arie was visited by dozens or dozens of members when he was arrested.Apart from that, they accused the Yogyakarta Regional Police of not bringing an arrest warrant or a status letter as a witness.Arie is also said to have been arrested without going through the summons stage to request information as a witness.
“Prime Arie was also forced to carry out a BAP, without being given the right to remain silent and choose his own legal representative as a citizen when facing the law!”continued the alliance statement.
Meanwhile, the Jogja Calling Alliance said that Prime Arie was actually also a victim of the actions of the authorities during the mass action on August 29, which resulted in him having to be rushed to Bhayangkara Hospital because he experienced convulsions.
Atqo Darmawan Aji, a member of the People’s Advocacy Front for Democracy and Justice (Bara Adil) said that the appointment of a legal assistant by the Yogyakarta Regional Police without coordinating with Perdana Arie’s family meant that the power had been revoked and was now handed over to his party.
To Atqo, Perdana Arie also revealed that when he was arrested he experienced actions by officers that were not in accordance with police arrest procedures based on the Criminal Procedure Code.
