Syuriyah Plenary Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (
PBNU
) at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/12) this evening taking place behind closed doors.
This meeting is known to discuss the delivery of the results of the daily Syuriyah meeting of the PBNU and the appointment of the Acting General Chair of the PBNU after Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya was dismissed from his position.

The meeting opened with a joint prayer and the handover of donations amounting to IDR 2 billion for disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.The meeting activities began with the opening of Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar and chaired by Rais Syuriah PBNU Mohammad Nuh.
The meeting agenda was conveyed in a letter issued on December 2 2025 numbered 4799/PB.02/A.I.01.01/99/12/2025 which was signed by Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar and Katib Syuriyah PBNU KH Ahmad Tajul Mafakhir or Gus Tajul.

,” quoted the letter.
In his speech opening the plenary meeting, Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftahul Akhyar stated that Syuriah PBNU is
owner
or the owner of the Nahdlatul Ulama congregation.Miftahul said the plenary agenda on Tuesday night would be a forum for strengthening Syuriah’s position.
“As we initially said, Syuriah is the owner of NU. And this period is a joint determination to strengthen the supremacy of Syuriah,” he said.
“So, this is an opportunity to truly maintain the supremacy of Syria and continue to grow stronger,” he added.
Miftachul then revealed his experience in East Java, where – he claims – Syuriah was often lied to by Tanfidziyah administrators.Therefore, he said, the PBNU Plenary agenda would strengthen Syuriah’s position within PBNU in the future.
“In the previous period, as far as I know, in East Java, Syuriah was usually always persuaded (deceived) by Tanfidziyah. This is my experience in East Java. Syuriah was always tested by Tanfidziyah,” he said.
“So strengthening and maintaining the supremacy of Syria is something we cannot ignore, of course. Even though there may still be objections because the fans of Tanfidziyah may still have the desire to perpetuate it,” added Miftahul.
Previously, PBNU Chairman Moh Mukri emphasized that this plenary meeting was an important constitutional forum to ensure the continuity of PBNU’s leadership according to organizational rules.
Mukri emphasized that PBNU Syuriah’s decision to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as General Chair was a final and binding decision.Although, he said, the invitation to the Plenary Meeting was only signed by Rais Aam and the Head of the PBNU, without the signature of the Tanfidziyah element.
He emphasized that the forum was under the authority of Syuriyah and Rais Aam, who is the Chairman of the PBNU Plenary Meeting, just as Rais PWNU/PCNU is also the Chairman of the Plenary Meeting at their respective management levels.
“Please read Article 8 Perkum 10/2025 concerning Meetings and Article 4 Perkum 16/2025 concerning Administrative Guidelines. It is very clear, the invitation meets these provisions,” he said.
