The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Tokyo recorded that there were 969 Indonesian citizens (
Indonesian citizen
) who lives in Aomori Prefecture which was the spot of the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked the north
Japan
on Monday (8/12) evening.
This 54 kilometer deep earthquake previously rocked the area off the east coast of Aomori on Monday (8/12) at 23.15 local time.

“The number of Indonesian citizens in Aomori is estimated to be around 969 people,” said the statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Tuesday (9/12).
The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo confirmed that up to now there have been no reports of Indonesian citizens becoming victims of the earthquake.
“Until now, Tuesday, December 9 2025, at 08.30 JST, there have been no reports of Indonesian citizens becoming victims,” continued the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo.
Even so, the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo appealed to Indonesian citizens in Japan to be alert and continue to monitor the situation along with information regarding the possibility of aftershocks.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has conveyed an appeal to Indonesian citizens in Japan to continue to monitor the situation and follow the instructions given by the official Japanese authorities, including studying evacuation routes, preparing emergency bags, preparing important documents and sufficient cash,” said the statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.5 rocked the northeastern region of Japan on Monday (8/12) evening.The earthquake was detected off the coast of Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, at 23.15 local time, at a depth of 54 kilometers.
A tsunami warning was issued for Iwate Prefecture as well as parts of Hokkaido and Aomori.Now, the tsunami warning has been lifted and replaced with tsunami advisories.
According to authorities, at least 10 people were injured by the earthquake.One victim was reported to be in serious condition.
