The support is contained in a letter from the Head of Islamic Boarding School Caretakers, Ali Maksum Krapyak, DIY, KH.Khoirul Fuad Ahmad.He emphasized that PBNU as the highest leader of Jam’iyyah should not be made a victim of any interests.
“We provide full support for the PBNU Plenary on 9-10 December 2025 to take steps for the good of all. PBNU must be kept upright, focused, and avoid greater harm (loss) for the organization and Nahdliyin residents,” said Khoirul in an official statement in Jakarta, Sunday (7/12).

The Krapyak Islamic Boarding School also mentioned that there was an internal polemic regarding decision making by KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) which was deemed to need to be clarified through the Jam’iyyah mechanism as a whole.
Therefore, they consider that the PBNU plenary is a legal, constitutional and necessary space to maintain organizational stability, including when it comes to making strategic decisions regarding the replacement of the general chairman.
The attitude of the Krapyak Islamic Boarding School came to public attention because Gus Yahya is an alumnus of the Islamic school.However, the Islamic boarding school emphasized that support was provided for the benefit of Jam’iyyah, not based on personal relationships.
“Regarding the polemic that occurred at PBNU, hopefully we will soon find the best way whatever the circumstances. There must be effective management for the benefit of Jam’iyyah and Nahdliyin citizens, as well as the nation and state,” said Khoirul Fuad Ahmad.
Support for the dismissal of Gus Yahya also came from Mustasyar PBNU Tuan Guru Haji (TGH) Muhammad Turmudzi Badaruddin.
Referring to article 14 paragraph 2 of Nahdlatul’s Articles of Association, it is explained that mustasyar are advisors who include general administrators, regional administrators, branch administrators/special branch administrators, and branch representative councils.
Mustasyar can provide advice to PBNU administrators according to their level, whether requested or not.Mustasyar also has the authority to hold internal meetings if necessary, but does not have the authority to appoint and dismiss management.

, in an official statement recorded on video lasting two minutes and seven seconds, TGH Turmudzi confirmed that Syuriyah, especially Rais Aam, is the highest leader in the Nahdlatul Ulama organizational structure.Therefore, Rais Aam’s decision must be respected by all PBNU administrators.
“To all the ulama, habaib, religious leaders, the Nahdliyin community and the Indonesian people, I, on behalf of H. M. Turmudzi Badaruddin, support Rais ‘Aam’s decision. Because Rais ‘Aam is the highest in the organization,” said TGH Turmudzi in his statement, Sunday.
This support from TGH Turmudzi Badaruddin, who is known as a charismatic figure and role model among the Nahdliyin, also strengthens Syuriyah PBNU’s steps in managing the internal dynamics of the organization.
Syuriah is the highest leader of Nahdlatul Ulama from the daily management which consists of rais aam, deputy rais aam, several rais, katib aam, and a’wan.
TGH Turmudzi also invited all parties to maintain the atmosphere and follow organizational mechanisms in accordance with Nahdlatul Ulama values.
“So that the transition process for changing the General Chair of PBNU runs well and does not cause commotion among the people,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, PBNU General Chair Gus Yahya has stated that he is open to islah.This was conveyed by Gus Yahya on Saturday (6/12), after attending the Nahdlatul Ulama Elders & Mustasyar Forum call at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java.
In the forum, Gus Yahya said he had the opportunity to explain in full the various organizational issues that had been addressed to him.
Gus Yahya attended the meeting along with PBNU Secretary General H Amin Said Husni and PBNU General Treasurer Sumantri Suwarno.He said that the senior kiai, mustasyar and ulama elders provided space for him to convey explanations openly.
“I am very grateful that he agreed to call me. I am very touched that our elders still care so much about the Nahdlatul Ulama jam’iyah,” said Gus Yahya in his statement, Saturday (6/12) evening.
