“As is known, Vietnam is a strong team, and is filled with fast, technically talented, calm and mature players. We have to give our best to beat them,” said Nafuzi as quoted by Bernama.
Nafuzi praised the performance of his team who performed well even though they were without a number of key players because they did not get permission from the club in local competitions.
“We are happy to win this opening match and it boosts our confidence going into Vietnam,” he said.
Meanwhile, Laos coach Ha Hyeok Jun assessed that his team had tried their best but were still less than Malaysia.
“Our players gave their best performance tactically and physically against Malaysia. The goals do not reflect their performance, but they tried their best.”
“They are still young and I think we need more time to develop them into an elite team,” said Hyeok Jun.
Malaysia currently has the right to top the Group B standings with a collection of three points.Harimau Malaya Muda is ahead on goal difference from Vietnam who is in second place.
In the first match, Vietnam was only able to win 2-1 over Laos. Therefore, the duel between Malaysia and Vietnam at the same place is the final match in Group B and also the match that determines the group winner.
