“The claims made about Sean Combs: The Reckoning are false,” a Netflix spokesperson reportedly said
Deadlines
on Tuesday (2/12).
In a cease-and-desist order sent on December 1, P Diddy’s lawyer insisted the recordings remain released after failing to force his client to participate in the documentary.
They accused Curtis James Jackson III alias 50 Cent, who is known as P Diddy’s arch enemy, of having paid people to vilify the musician who was involved in sexual crimes.

“Around 2023, CEO Ted Sarandos proposed that Netflix produce a documentary about Mr. Combs. However, P Diddy rejected the proposal when Mr. Sarandos insisted that he relinquish creative control,” reads the dense four-page letter about Sarandos.
“So, Mr. Jackson’s choice to produce the program was Netflix’s vindictive response to rejection, an attempt by Netflix and Mr. Sarandos to ensure a one-sided character assassination, rather than a balanced and accurate depiction.”
This situation made P Diddy plan to take official legal action.
Netflix has now opened its voice and stated that all the clips shown in the documentary series were obtained by the production team legally and have nothing to do with Ted Sarandos’ meeting with P Diddy several years ago.
“This project has nothing to do with past conversations between Sean Combs and Netflix,” the rep added regarding Sarandos and Diddy’s professional relationship and other documentary projects.
“The Combs footage leading to his indictment and arrest was lawfully obtained.”
“This was not an offensive article or an act of retaliation. Curtis Jackson was an executive producer but had no creative control. No one was paid to participate.”
The documentary was directed by Alexandria Stapleton, who also serves as executive producer with 50 Cent. The mini series, which will be released on December 2 2025, tells the story of the sexual harassment allegations that caught P Diddy.
