Teddy said the government continues to seriously investigate this issue while focusing on evacuation and handling as the main focus.

At the same time, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno said the government had intervened to investigate suspected logs of wood that had been swept away by the flood currents.
He said the government continues to trace parties suspected of committing violations through image analysis.
“Currently, the forest area control task force has intervened, tracing suspected logs of wood that were carried away by the flood currents,” said Pratikno.
The issue of deforestation as the cause of flash floods in a number of areas on the island of Sumatra has recently become a concern.
Satellite image records from 2016 to 2025 showing massive land clearing in North Sumatra.The North Sumatra Indonesian Forum for the Environment (Walhi) noted that in the last 10 years, 2 thousand hectares of forest in North Sumatra were damaged.
