Rosan P Roeslani
open his voice regarding the decision of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to revoke international flight status
IMIP Special Airport
in Morowali, Central Sulawesi.
According to Rosan, even though international flight status is revoked, it will not disrupt the investment climate, especially downstreaming in the region.
“I’m sure it won’t disrupt the investment climate, because from investors, the investments they see are policy improvements that we continue to improve,” said Rosan when met at the DPR RI after a meeting with Commission XII, Tuesday (2/12).

“Because why? I often say that we are also competing or competing with neighboring countries. They have other access to attract foreign investors, especially to invest in Indonesia,” he added.
Thus, he emphasized that the most important thing for investors is policies that are not influenced by domestic political conditions. This means that what investment hopes for is regulatory certainty.
“So, more than licensing, everything is more measurable, structured, that is what is prioritized. And the most important thing is that in Indonesia we always maintain stability and peace. So, political changes do not result in failure for us. That is what they appreciate too,” he explained.
Rosan claims that Indonesia’s current investment policy is highly appreciated because it is investor friendly. Therefore, he is not worried that the IMIP Airport conflict will affect the country’s investment work.
“They say peace and stability, that is what Indonesia always maintains, which is perhaps one of our superior points compared to other neighboring countries,” he said.
IMIP Airport is currently in the spotlight. This is the aftermath of a statement by Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin who said that airports not having state equipment was an anomaly.
This airport is different from Maleo Airport which was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on 23 December 2018, which is also in the Morowali area, Central Sulawesi.
Quoted from the Ministry of Transportation’s website, Indonesian Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) Airport has special status and has a 4B technical classification.
This airport is used for domestic flights, and is managed by a private party with the supervision of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation through the Makassar Region V Airport Authority.
IMIP Airport has had international status since August 2025. This is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 38 of 2025 concerning the Use of Airports that Can Serve Direct Flights from and/or to Abroad.
However, as of October 13, the Ministry of Transportation revoked IMIP Airport’s status as a special airport that can serve flights to and from abroad.
This is stated in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number KM 55 of 2025 concerning the Use of Airports that Can Serve Direct Flights from and/or to Abroad which revokes KM 38/2025.
