According to him, the North Sumatra Regional Police declared full readiness through the implementation of Operation Candle Toba 2025.
A total of 11,417 joint personnel from the National Police, TNI, local government and related agencies were deployed to ensure security and the smooth running of community activities.
“We have prepared a total of 11,417 combined personnel from the National Police, TNI, Regional Government and other agencies. The North Sumatra Regional Police have also prepared 90 security posts, 63 service posts and 13 health posts,” he said.
Apart from traffic security and social security, this operation also prioritizes post-disaster recovery, including ensuring the readiness of places of worship, availability of fuel, electricity, communication networks, and smooth logistics distribution.
“With solid synergy and sincere dedication, we want to ensure that the people of North Sumatra can celebrate Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 safely, comfortably and full of hope,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of North Sumatra (Sumut) Surya encouraged all resources to be mobilized so that this Christmas season can run smoothly.According to him, this needs to be done because the challenges of Nataru this year are more difficult because North Sumatra still has disaster emergency status.
“We must not be careless, all potential resources must be prepared optimally so that the implementation of Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 which coincides with the disaster management, rehabilitation and reconstruction process can run well, safely and smoothly,” said Surya.
Surya explained that Humbang Hasundutan, South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, North Tapanuli, Langkat and Sibolga districts are currently still in the disaster rehabilitation stage.
“Infrastructure in this area also experienced serious damage and was even cut off. This condition limits the mobility of people and goods in North Sumatra. In fact, during Christmas time the mobility of people and goods increased significantly,” he said.

The deployment of thousands of joint personnel, said the two-star general, will focus on churches or places of worship in South Sulawesi.
“Security will be focused on 720 priority churches and 98 New Year celebration locations spread throughout South Sulawesi Province,” he said.
Apart from that, the South Sulawesi Regional Police have prepared 94 security posts, consisting of 48 security posts, then 21 service posts and 25 integrated posts.
