“From the statement made by the policewoman, one of the TNI officers called her to borrow an account. Because she didn’t memorize the account, she was given the account number of her friend who was with the policewoman at the time,” he explained.
After that, IDR 30 million was sent to the account of Bripda AZ’s friend. Then the TNI AD member requested that the money be sent back to his personal account.
“Money was sent from the account number, it was indeed sent to a friend of the policewoman. Not long after, she was called back and asked to return the money that had been sent,” he said.
The South Sulawesi Regional Police Chief did not immediately believe all the information given by Bripda AZ when undergoing an examination at the Makassar Police Propam. So Djuhandhani asked Propam to continue tracing financial transactions in the accounts of Bripda AZ and his friends.
“We don’t just believe it. We will look at the available evidence, including tracing financial transactions in collaboration with banks. We want to confirm how far the process is going,” he concluded.
Separately, Head of Information for Kodam (Kapendam) XIV/Hasanuddin, Colonel Inf.Budi Wirman said that the three TNI members had been detained by the Pomdam.
“Indeed, three TNI officers have been arrested and the matter is currently being investigated,” said Budi.
Budi said that based on preliminary information, a total of seven people were suspected of being involved in the action, consisting of three TNI members, one police member and three civilians.
“[Apart from the three TNI members] there is also one police officer and three civilians, of which the police have the authority to investigate these four people,” he said.
Budi explained that the chronology of the incident started with the discovery of a travel car that was not properly closed.
The officers then took the initiative to carry out unofficial raids.Feeling that they did not accept the extortion, the travel agency finally reported the incident to the police.
“Carried out a raid, then asked for peace money. Finally the peace price was agreed,” he explained.
Kapendam also revealed that there were allegations that the travel agency that was the victim of extortion was related to illegal activities.
“It is suspected that this angkot or travel driver also brought illegal migrant workers. However, of course, maybe later the police will be able to answer,” he said.
Colonel Budi emphasized that Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin would focus on internal handling of its three members.
“What I can confirm is that three people suspected of being members of the TNI have been detained by the Pom for investigation,” he concluded.
