Before going to the cinema, there are 3 suggestions for viewers before seeing Avatar 3: Fire and Ash.
1. If you forget, watch the previous 2 films again
Avatar: Fire and Ash is a direct continuation of Avatar 2: The Way of Water (2022), which was also an expansion of Avatar (2009).There is a lot of story in Avatar 3 that is closely related to the previous two films.
Since the previous two films were released more than a year before Avatar 3, it would be a good idea for audiences to watch the previous two films again. But even if you haven’t had time, there are the first two hours of Avatar 3 for memory time while watching the story develop.
To be sure, the cast is largely the same and James Cameron’s conflict and narrative are still the same. And considering that there are so many characters in Avatar, just remember some of the main characters, such as Jake Sully’s family and his enemies, as well as the final story in the previous film.
A little leak, in Avatar (2009), Jake Sully, who is a marine from Earth, managed to help expel the RDA from Pandora and chose to remain in his avatar form and live with the Na’vi tribe.
Meanwhile in Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Sully is married to Neytiri and has four children: Neteyam, Lo’ak, Tuk, and Kiri who is an adopted child.Apart from that, they are also close to Spider, who is the son of Colonel Miles Quaritch.
In Avatar 2, Quaritch returns but in avatar form to take revenge on Jake Sully. While facing Quaritch’s revenge, the Sully family is also trying to fight against the Sky People who are targeting Tulkun to become an anti-aging commodity.
2. Better choose IMAX or equivalent
James Cameron never played around when making Avatar, especially when it came to production scale and visuals. As we get here, Avatar’s resolution standards get higher and higher, and definitely require special projector settings.
Cameron even wrote to cinemas regarding the provisions for projector settings and sound system calibration so that audiences can watch Avatar 3 optimally.
“There is a Projection Specification file and framing chart included with the DCP [Digital Cinema Package], containing important information regarding lighting levels, audio configuration, proper framing, etc,” the warning reads.
“Please check, and make sure your image and sound system is calibrated and ready to use,” instructed James, as reported by Games Radar.
“I personally have worked on this film responsibly, so it plays perfectly, with full dynamics between quiet dialogue scenes and big action scenes at the 7.0 reference standard – please don’t lower it!”James Cameron said.
The problem is, can we be sure that all cinemas will comply with these instructions considering that one screen or theater room in Indonesia can be used for more than one film?
Therefore, before actually buying tickets for Avatar: Fire and Ash, it is important for prospective viewers to ensure that the theater room showing Avatar 3 is actually only showing that film. You can ask the cinema staff directly about this.
Or, if you have more budget, you can choose IMAX caliber or equivalent directly. When watching in an IMAX theater or equivalent, the audience will be given special glasses that make the image feel more dimensional and real.

3. It’s best not to invite small children to watch
Avatar: Fire and Ash is categorized as R13+.But once again, it’s a good idea not to bring underage children to see this film considering that some of the content is quite adult.
Not only that, Avatar: Fire and Ash presents a story and visuals that are bolder than the previous two films, perhaps even triggering for some people. So, viewers need wisdom if they want to invite their children to watch this film.
Apart from that, the film’s duration of 3 hours 17 minutes is not a short time.Especially if it has to be faced by underage children. If the child ends up having a tantrum, the person there will end up causing a commotion in the cinema and being gossiped about and sprayed with popcorn by other audience members.
