bombarded the gambling tourist city of Poipet Thursday (18/12).
According to the Cambodian military, Thai troops “dropped two bombs in the Poipet Municipality area, Banteay Meanchey Province” at around 11:00 local time.

The city of Poipet is one of the favorite tourist sites of Thai people and is also one of the crossing cities between the two countries.
Not only that, Poipet is also a gambling city, especially online gambling, which is partly operated by Indonesians who were trapped there.
Apart from Poipet, Cambodia also has two other gambling cities, namely Sihanoikville and Bavet.
This area is also suspected to be a hotbed of online fraud or scams where many Indonesian citizens are forced to work there because they are trapped.
The following are three cities that are gambling centers in Cambodia:
1. Poipet
Gambling in the city of Poipet is dominated by casinos.This shanty town is visited by many Cambodians or Thais to spend money there.But as development progresses, this city is also a place where online gambling operates, some of which are operated by Indonesian citizens.
Last July, 271 Indonesian citizens, consisting of 127 men and 45 women, were arrested by authorities in Cambodia in an intensive operation to combat online fraud which is rampant in the country.They were arrested in Poipet.

2. Sihanoukville
In this city there are a number of online gambling villages, which are operated by Indonesian workers.The capital city of Sihanoukville Province, Kompong Dewa (written “Kampong Dewa”) is registered as a property business entity.
Kompong Dewa is also part of the business line of an Indonesian company group, as stated on the company’s official website.
Before becoming Judol’s headquarters, the Sihanoukville area was inaugurated in 1994 as the largest casino resort there.This area was built as a recovery effort due to extreme economic stagnation in the country due to the impact of the civil war.
3. Bavet
Bavet is a gambling city on the border with Vietnam.The city of Bavet is located more than 3 hours by land from the capital Phnom Penh and it is predicted that more than 7 thousand Indonesian citizens live in this city, according to data from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh.
The Viet Bao media page writes that in this city there are many casinos in brightly lit skyscrapers such as Le Macao, Mocbai Casino, New World, and King Crown.
More than 10 years ago, the area had nearly 20 casinos in operation, but today only big names like King Crown, Le Macao and New World remain.Instead, online gambling is widespread there, including the use of Indonesian workers.

) last January interviewed Indonesian citizens who escaped from being trapped by judol workers there.Using the pseudonym Slamet, he told the story of the terrible life in the city.
“I’m scared because (bosses in Cambodia) are still looking for me,” the 27-year-old man told CNA, as reported on Monday (13/1/2025).Slamet said that he only brought his wallet, cellphone and charger.
“I was forced to steal from the company to pay my way home,” said Slamet, who comes from East Java.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar stated that there are around 100 thousand Indonesian citizens working in Cambodia.However, he reminded that Cambodia is not a safe place for Indonesian citizens to earn a living.
“We continue to campaign and socialize that Cambodia is not a safe place for our migrant workers,” said Cak Imin, as he is known, last October.
