The kidnapping comes amid widespread anger over violence against Christians in the West African country.

, several students managed to save themselves in the attack.However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said 215 students and 12 teachers were kidnapped in the attack.
“Parents have come to the school to pick up their children, before the school closed,” said CAN Niger State Chapter Chairman, Pastor Bulus Dauwa Yohanna.
Yohanna said CAN was working with the government and security forces to bring the kidnapped children back safely.
The kidnapping in Niger, which borders Nigeria’s capital Abuja, follows a similar attack on a church by an armed group earlier this week.At least two people died in the attack.Several congregants and priests were also kidnapped.
Also this week, a group of gunmen also kidnapped 25 students in a raid on a government-run girls’ boarding school in Kebbi state.In this incident, the deputy principal was shot and killed at the location.
The Niger State Government condemned the latest attack on St. Mary’s school.Mary.The police have deployed personnel to ‘comb the forest’ in an effort to rescue the kidnapped students.
Currently, Nigeria is facing an alarming wave of attacks by armed groups targeting civilians and organizing mass kidnappings for ransom.
The country is also haunted by religiously motivated attacks and other violent conflicts stemming from communal and ethnic tensions.
