The patient came to Tangshan Gongren Hospital with complaints of an enlarged stomach and black stools for one week.When examined, his vital signs were still stable.Blood test results were also normal, except for an increase in the number of white blood cells.

“Plain abdominal radiographs showed many opaque foreign objects in the patient’s stomach. Although the patient showed symptoms of speaking for himself, no gastrointestinal perforation was found,” wrote the team of doctors in the report.
From the medical history, it is known that the patient had been diagnosed with schizophrenia for eight years and had been undergoing treatment.But in the last five years, he stopped treatment at his mother’s request.
Since then he started to have the habit of swallowing various unnatural objects.Realizing this condition, the doctor first provided psychiatric treatment while monitoring his physical condition.
The patient was treated for two weeks under close supervision.After his mental symptoms showed significant improvement, the medical team decided to perform surgery.
During the procedure, doctors found a total of 120 foreign objects in the patient’s stomach.Most are metal.
“The surgical procedure showed gastric dilatation, but no tumors or adhesions were found. In total, more than 120 foreign objects including keys, nails, iron rods, needles, nail cutters, small knives and ear spoons were successfully removed,” explained the doctor.
The operation went smoothly.The patient was then transferred to the surgical ward in stable condition and given antibiotics.
After six days of treatment, he was discharged home and referred back to the psychiatric department for further evaluation.
He reportedly no longer feels pain or other complaints.The results of another CT scan also confirmed that his stomach was clean of foreign objects.
Doctors emphasize the importance of patients regularly taking antipsychotic medication and carrying out regular mental health control.
