Of the total 100 health workers, 35 people came from city districts, namely Luwu, East Luwu, Palopo, Selayar, Bulukumba, Pinrang, Bone, Toraja and North Toraja.
“Meanwhile the other 65 people are health workers from the ranks of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government,” he said.
Evi said that the medical team dispatched consisted of various health workers, including specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses and pharmacists. The specialist doctors sent included specialists in surgery, internal medicine, skin, pediatrics, eyes and nerves.
“All of these health workers will work in Aceh Tamiang to strengthen medical services, provide direct treatment for affected communities, and help restore health in the areas most affected by the disaster,” he said.
Apart from that, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government is also preparing medical and health logistics support as part of efforts to strengthen services in affected locations.
“The sending of health workers in large numbers is a manifestation of the South Sulawesi Health Service’s commitment to supporting cross-regional disaster management and strengthening humanitarian solidarity between provinces,” he explained.
Until now, said Evi, South Sulawesi medical personnel also continue to be active in helping with disaster management in a number of other areas.
“The South Sulawesi Provincial Government has also allocated additional operational costs of IDR 1 billion which are focused on procuring medicines and other health logistics needs,” he said.
Previously, the Aceh Government stated that there was a shortage of medical personnel at evacuation sites for flash floods and landslides.
Moreover, the sporadic disasters at the end of November began to have health impacts on refugees in the affected areas.
These health problems include diseases such as fever, flu, skin diseases, and acute respiratory infections (ARI).
For this reason, the Aceh Government asked the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) to deploy Health Reserve Personnel (TCK) to strengthen the emergency response in areas affected by the hydrometeorological disaster in Aceh.
